Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal has been arrested over the loss of over Ksh.84million public funds.
Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested the county boss today morning and locked him up at the EACC headquarters at Integrity Centre in the capital city of Nairobi.
Lenolkulal and 13 other Samburu County officers will be charged with conspiracy to commit economic crimes, abuse of office and conflict of interest.
His deputy Julius Leseeto, Stephen Letinina (county secretary), Danile Lenolkirina (Chief Finance Officer), Josephine Lenasalia (former Chief Officer Environment) and Reuben Lemunyete (Chief Officer Agriculture) are among those who will be arraigned.
The arrest comes hours after Kenya’s chief public prosecutor ordered the prosecution of the top brass of Samburu County government over the scandal.
