Highly celebrated Kenyan boyband Sauti Sol were given the warmest welcome upon arrival in Burundi. Our boys were set to perform in Bujumbura two nights in a row over the weekend.
The award-winning group had Miss Burundi, The Vice President, dancers and a ton of fans there to welcome them into their country. They posted on Facebook:
“AMAZED! HUMBLED! CONFUSED! HONOURED and super grateful at the same damn time. Did you know? The Burundian drummers are a prestigious national treasure only preserved for Presidents and Prime Ministers. In fact, to have them at any other function you have to ask for special permission from the government. We are very blessed to have been given such an honorary reception by Burundi.”

Do you think we Kenyans would ever welcome any of our successful musicians home as passionately and lovingly as this?
