Who is Lucy?

My name is Lucy Biel. A 22 year old Kenyan based South Sudanese. I am in my fourth year currently pursuing Business Administration and Management at Daystar University. Fashion and beauty is what I love to do. I love modelling and fashion blogging. I am also a humanitarian.

Tell us more about your passion for fashion?

I was very humbled to participate in the first ever Mr. & Ms South Sudan Kenya beauty pageant in the year 2013. I also got the privilege to run for Mr. & Ms. Daystar University where, I ended up taking the 2nd runner’s up position.

You mentioned a fashion blog?

I have a blog known as L&A Fashion Blog ( that I run with my cousin. We started the blog back in 2015 and the motivation behind it was our budding passion for fashion. We wanted to be the first famous South Sudanese out there. We wanted to show the rest of the world a different side of South Sudanese. Having a blog has really bore its good fruits. We mangled to motivate many young South Sudanese girls who have always wanted to join the blogging industry. Through God’s grace, we were featured in The Real Woman magazine where our story about fashion was featured.

How about you as a Humanitarian?

I currently work for a South Sudanese Non-profit organization P.U.S.H (Power In Unity To Save Humanity) as the Operations manager. (

P.U.S.H was originally founded in the year 2014 by a group of people who shared the same vision to empower men, women and children affected by the conflict that plunged South Sudan on 15th December 2013.

What activities has PUSH achieved?

Currently P.U.S.H has enrolled 3 children who were badly affected by the war to schools here in Kenya. The organization has held two major fundraiser events that were held in 2014 and 2015.

In 2014 we held a Dinner gala where people from different parts of South Sudan came together. In 2015 we held our second fundraiser , the theme being a cultural event. Our main goal was to promote peace and unity and also enlighten others about the different and beautiful cultures we uphold as South Sudanese. Our goal is to use education as the main weapon to empower the oppressed, disadvantaged and the most vulnerable people. Education is the single most effective way of reducing poverty and promoting a growing economy.

Such a challenging task?

It’s definitely not easy to work, modelling and studying at the same time, but what keeps me moving and motivates me is the future I have planned for world. I want the world to be a better place. I want most if not all children to have access to education. I want prosperity in all aspects (apart from the bad ones) for the world be it, socially, economically and politically.

Future ambitions?

In the near future is to have P.US.H as one of the best striving organizations worldwide. I want P.U.S.H to leave a mark that no one has left on this earth before, I want it to change as many lives as possible. I would love to have my blog bigger and better than it is at the moment. Aside from that, I aspire to be a God fearing wife with as many children as God can grant me and have a stable clean home.
