The official launch of Miss Kenya 2015 was done in an elegant occasion that was attended by the media fraternity and presided over by the Miss Kenya Production Manager mister Tony Chirah.
This year, there has been introduction of many a first in an effort to market Kenya into international platforms.
This year, there shall be three beauty queens under the Miss Kenya title. These are:
A) Miss Kenya Earth: This will be a lady whose sole purpose will be the cause of environment and taking care of it. This will include the conservation and protection of the earth.
B) Miss Kenya Grand International: This lady shall represent the beauty and goodwill of Kenya. She is the bubbly, outgoing type of person.
C) Miss Kenya International: This lady shall be a representation of the cultural integration of the Kenyan people.
In a bid to have Kenya represented fully and waiver the idea that Kenyans are the ugliest in the world, these three beauty queens shall represent the country in various contests all over the world.
Requirements for participation are based on rules/standards set internationally.
Simply put the requirements are;
- a single Kenyan lady aged between 18 and 24,
- never been married,
- never given birth
- height not below 5 feet 6 inches and hips not exceeding 38 inches
- beautiful of course, clear skin, nice set of teeth, confident, eloquent, well informed and
- interested in supporting a cause in advancing Environmental Conservation, Cultural Integration and Cohesion, Tourism and Goodwill.
- No crime history or known public embarrassment situations.
Registration shall be done online and there shall be one national audition held in Nairobi.
The game changers introduced this year are Darling and Rich Manor for make-up and hair care.
As well as introduction of ten men under the title #KENYANGENTLEMEN in the pageant as pillars for the top ten girls to keep them on their toes, strengthen and support them. These men shall be selected and paraded on the 1st of August 2015.
Also, former contestants shall walk hand in hand with the beauty queens as mentors and sisters. With all the support given to the ladies this year, we as Kenyans expect nothing but excellence in the international platforms.
Past Miss Kenya contestants that have done us proud before include Esther Muthee, Yolanda Masinde, Daniella Kimaru, Maryanne Kariuki. Cecillia Mwangi and Idah Nguma won the Miss World Kenya titles.
