The Plot Concert was one not to miss. It was seriously hyped up for the last three months on Homeboyz Radio.There was so much buzz and publicity around it to ensure that it was the biggest event of the year.
The show kicked off firstly with security checks and ticketing/verification done at the main entry. Then the crowd was led into two well lit inflated tunnels leading to the arena and VIP/VVIP areas that were well decorated with round tables, lounge seats and branded barrels.
There were food and drink vendors all around as well as shisha bongs and flavours, which people indulged in. The Johnnie Walker brand was there promoting the drink as well as making cocktails for the revelers upon arrival.
The Plot DJs
DJ Adrian took to the decks at about 8pm churning out old school RnB and Hip-hop hits to the delight of the fans.Then Maqbul Mohammed came onstage cracking jokes and thanking PRC plus other sponsors for putting the event together as he warmed up the audience.
He then called upon Art in Motion dancers to perform a few dance routines from the 90s, which was quite spectacular to watch especially with the likes of MC Hammer, Boyz To Men, New Edition, Johnny Gill just to name afew who ruled that era of music. Then Dj Adrian came back with more 90s hits which got the crowd into a frenzy. Then all of a sudden the music stopped and Dj Pinye came masked ready to ‘tear the decks apart’ with the best of old school HipHop and RnB.
The 00’s Revived
This got the crowd even more excited and warmed them ready to receive the Ogopa Deejays artists at about 9pm till 11pm with the likes of Nyashinski, Amani, Kunguru, Mr.Lenny ,Bigpin, Habib and Manga and Colonel Moustapha.
Lucas Bikedo(founder,producer and video director at Ogopa Deejays) was the official deejay playing tunes from all these great artists including E-sir who’s legend still lives on as the crowd sang to every song word-for-word. There was another mix in between by Dj Adrian before Mya’s performance.
Sexy Mya Brings It
Mya then came onstage at about 11:30 pm in a gold-black one leg outfit and her two energetic female dancers boosted her performance. In between she had costume changes as she still managed to take people through her musical journey.They danced,sang and even pulled up afew suprises.
She sang ‘Case Of The Ex’,’Movin On’,’Best Of Me’,’Fallen’,’Gals Dem Sugar’,’My Love Is Like Whoa’,’Lady Marmalade’, plus a few other songs like ‘Freaks’ and an acoustic old school RnB love song backed up by Izzo on the guitar. Her performance was about an hour long.
Dj Adrian and Dj Pinye mixed for about fifteen minutes then Maqbul came to give a title deed to a lucky winner named Daniel. He received a plot at the plot!. It was presented to him by Brian Gacari of PRC.
112 Bring Faya
112 then came onstage at 12:40am with fireworks, Airtel balloons and confetti being released into the air in celebration.
They belted tunes like ‘You Already Know’,’Peaches and Cream’,’Anywhere’ and ‘Only You’ plus did a tribute to Notorious B.I.G. singing songs like ‘Ill Be Missing You’,’Sky Is The Limit’ and ‘Only You’. They also performed for an hour.
Ginuwine Makes Us Feel
Ginuwine’s deejay played a few tunes before the two male backup singers came to the stage at about 1:30am. Ginuwine,who was dressed in white ripped jeans and a white top with red sneakers then came to the screaming fans.He performed songs like ‘Same Ol G’,’Pony’,’None Of Your Friend’s Business’,’In Those Jeans’,’So Anxious’ then did a tribute to Prince through the song ‘When Doves Cry’ plus another tribute to Michael Jackson via ‘You Make Me Feel’.
He grinded onstage, changed to a red cap with a red and white sleevless shirt,he came closer to the crowd to give them roses as well as throw his white towels into the crowd which he used to wipe his sweaty body and face driving the ladies insane as they touched his legs each wanting a piece of him. He performed at The Plot until about 2:35am.
Dj Burn then played a mix of Nigerian, hiphop, reggae and RnB songs to keep the crowd on their toes till the later wee hours of the morning.
