Third hand music released their first single of the year called i Slay on 22nd February 2017. The group has been hyping the song for weeks on their social media pages telling their fans that they are not ready for what is to come from them.  The video is indeed interesting; 3HM describe it as their “4 Minute mural”.

The video features the three young men as well as Mmchn, a rapper with whom they have collaborated on the song with. The song has a different sound from previously released music by 3HM, “Helena” and “In the Air”. As it begins, the black and white video indicates that one is required to have an IQ of 180+ to watch it. This might be because the concept is not what most people would term easily digestible. It also features two ladies, a few abstract images, animated characters, an ant and other things that are difficult to make out after just one watch.

The song talks about reaching heights, achieving that they have worked to achieve and slaying at it. In it, Mmchn describes his brain as that of monster. The costumes worn by the artists are also out of the ordinary, from CDs to fancy glasses and caps. The video was shot by Alex Theophillus

As this was musician, Phy’s band before they took separate paths in 2014 to pursue their music individually, they have made substantial strides in their work. Aside from recording music they have performed at festivals and major events. Third Hand Music is doing well with their music and is proving to be consistent.
