Kenyan brother and sister Papa Petit and Velma of the now popular Thrift Social will be hosting another installment, Thrift Social- Clothes Swap Edition, on 5th March at the Alchemist bar.

The event, which has become a meeting hub for fashion enthusiasts, fashion entrepreneurs, music lovers, thrift shoppers and trendsetters, seeks to provide a platform for creative entrepreneurs in the fashion industry, music industry and even in the art scene.

The sibling pair has in the past been working with cutting edge style vendors and artists to curate the event together. They therefore have to carefully select vendors for the event, in line with the theme. Speaking of, vendor spaces are still open for application so if you think you have some dope gear you want to sell, hit them up on their social media page(@thriftsocialnairobi on instagram)

The event is usually thronged with people who express themselves in a myriad of style tribes so it’s not uncommon to run into styling you might have probably just seen on the telly or on one of your fave artists. And the music, totally amazing! In the past editions, they’ve flew in Dj Steloolive from Accra who rocked the crowd with afro electronic sounds, our very own Just a band and Muzi(South Africa).

In this year’s first edition, Belgian- South African sensation Petite Noir, will be headlining the event alongside Kenyan acts Taio(Cosmic Homies) and EA Wave. Petite Noir is a singer, song writer and record producer. He dropped his debut EP in January 2015 titled “King of Anxiety”  and followed it up later the same year with his debut album, “La vie est belle/Life is beautiful”. He has even gotten to share a stage with hip hop artist Kendrick Lamar!

So if you have some awesome gear in your closet that you’re finally willing to let go of for something new(to your closet), and have a grand time while at it, then the Alchemist Bar is where you need to be on 5th March. Tickets are available on mymookh.
