The University of Eldoret has been closed indefinitely after students went on rampage yet again for the second time this year. The students are accusing the institution of hiking fees rates without notice and accusation the University’s administration has vehemently denied. The institution’s management is in turn accusing the students of being incited saying there has been no fees hike or whatsoever plans to hike the rates.

This is the second time the students are rioting. Earlier in the year, the students led by area Senator for Uasin Gishu Hon. Isaac Melly, the students accused the institution’s vice chancellor of nepotism and tribalism, whom they wanted to be replaced.

The Vice Chancellor has condemned yesterday’s incident and asked students to be airing their issues amicably without destruction of property.
