Following the latest ranking reports by Times Higher Education (THE) University Rankings 2018, the University of Nairobi has been ranked the top higher learning institution in East Africa.
UON shared the third position with Mansoura University (Egypt), University of Marrakech (Egypt) and Suez Canal (Egypt). The universities were placed in the category of 201-250 globally and had an overall score of 19.9-25.0.

It’s ranking (UON) was as a result of its improved researching and teaching environments, citation impact and an international outlook all together. Among the first to congratulate the institution on its ranking was VC Prof. Mbithi who credited the University community for its achievement.
