On Tuesday evening a government vehicle ferrying the KCPE examinations was involved in an accident at Ol-Kalau in Nyandarua county.
There 16 people aboard the vehicle when the accident happened including the driver. They were five Head Teachers from different schools in the county, five Administration Police officers and five NYS personnel who would assist in guarding the exam.
The driver said the accident occurred due to an unprecedented incident that he could not understand. He was trying to avoid hitting a motorcycle which had suddenly occupied the center of the road before the vehicle veered off the road due to locking up of its wheels.
Mr Gitahi said;
“Unfortunately, the steering wheel locked. I don’t know why it locked,”
All the 16 occupants got injuries during the accident and were immediately rushed to the JM Kariuki Memorial Hospital to be given treatment.
The KCPE exam papers were however safely stored at the county commissioner’s offices.
