Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu is one man whose tribulations have been unfolding unexpectedly. His journey as a governor has been met with a lot of governance issues.
63 MCA’s voted in Kiambu County Assembly, a vote of no confidence in the leadership of the governor. He has been moving from one court to another with cases of corruption leveled against him .
Waititu was barred from office after Justice Mumbi , gave a ruling that all state officers accused of corruption cases should not be allowed to go back to their office. A move that made Samburu Governor to be the first one to be whipped by the ruling.
Governor Waititu and His Nairobi counterpart Governor Sonko are also barred from accessing their offices making Nairobi to be in deep furnace.
For Waititu his family members were arrested alongside him to answer the corruption cases leveled against him. His wife and daughter were reported to be accomplices of the governor in corrupt issues.
The motion by the MCA accuses Ferdinand Waititu Babayao of violating the tendering laws by allegedly influencing awarding of key tenders to firms linked to his immediate family and kin.
The Kiambu county boss, in the motion, is also accused of bypassing the County Public Service Board in hiring hundreds of casual staff among other actions that the MCA termed as unconstitutional.
President Donald Trump Fate
Donald Trump has become the third US president in history to be impeached by the House of Representatives, setting up a trial in the Senate that will decide whether he remains in office.
The House voted on two charges – that the president had abused his power and that he had obstructed Congress.
Nearly all Democrats voted for the charges and every Republican against.
President Trump’s Republicans control the Senate so it is highly unlikely he will be removed from power.
Democrats are already unhappy at the way the trial could be held. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has now indicated it might delay sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate, in order to bargain on the terms of the proceedings.
How has Mr Trump responded?
During the House debates, Mr Trump tweeted several times, calling the Democratic arguments “ATROCIOUS LIES BY THE RADICAL LEFT” and an “ASSAULT ON THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!!!!”.
At his Michigan rally, he told supporters: “The Democrats are declaring their deep hatred and disdain for the American voter.
“They’ve been trying to impeach me from day one. They’ve been trying to impeach me from before I ran.”
The president had also made an extraordinary intervention on the eve of Wednesday’s vote, penning an irate six-page letter to Ms Pelosi accusing her of declaring “open war on American democracy”.
