Wambui Mureithi is a 19 year old lady full of life, also a student at Utalii College studying travel and tourism management. Having won the Miss Tourism Kirinyaga county 2013/14 and now Miss United Continents Kenya, it is easy to see how she got these titles. Her demeanour is humble and confident at the same time. Wambui is also the founder of the ‘Niko Sober Campaign’ which educates the community on the dangers of illicit brews. As we begin the interview, the excitement is clear to see.
1. How did reigning the runway become part of your life?
I started modelling in high school. Back then I used to participate in the cultural day which I enjoyed very much and after high school I decided to do it professionally.
2. What have been your challenges whilst doing the catwalk?
I can’t really say I have done alot of catwalk or fashion modeling. My passion has been community service and through the platform Miss Tourism Kirinyaga county gave me, I have been able to achieve many things. My biggest challenge has been trying to balance both school and my duties as Miss Tourism Kirinyaga county and now Miss United Continents Kenya.
3. What lessons can young people draw from your life?
I am a person who still believes in the principles of working hard and working smart. Nothing comes easy in life and we shouldn’t expect it to so we must be willing to work and be proud of our achievements.
4.What have been the advantages of your modelling career?
I have really enjoyed the travelling bit of it. It has taken to almost all corners of this country and beyond the region also which I am very grateful. Apart from that I appreciate the people I have met and networked with it has really been amazing.
5. What has been the impact of your foundation on the youth and how can one be part of it?
We have been able to visit over 30 schools this year plus churches and towns we are planning to start a rehabilitation program next year anyone willing to work with us can email me on [email protected] or like our Facebook page ‘Tuko sober campaign‘ for more details.
I also own a tour company called Ceera Travel and Tour company which mainly deals with custom made tours for individuals and groups. In effort to promote Kenya as a tourist destination and also promoting domestic tourism. 6. Any other activities you do for fun?
I love cooking. I think I can cook almost everything plus of course eating and travelling.

I thank God for my skill in public speaking. I enjoy speaking to people about various topics

The only comment I have is I think I am tired searching for him so I will just sit and wait for him to come.
