Wangechi exhibits nothing but swag and confidence. She has proven that Kenyan femcees can really pull a crowd. Bouncing back from a serious accident, she came back into the music scene with a bang, wooing us all with her performances at Coke Studio. Now she has released an album, “DON’T CONSUME IF SEAL IS BROKEN” that is quite interesting offering a lot of insight through her lyrics. One of my favourite lines is, “Would you still impress, if the world was blind?”
One of the songs from this album, “Here is to us” was used in a Tusker advertisement. The video features Kenyans in different ethnic attire, dancing and playing traditional instruments to the song, a few dance on rooftops scenes as well as Wangechi’s solos. The quality is impressive, the concept together and the actors show wit here and there making the video engaging.
In the song she urges Kenyans to be united and patriotic and stated her pride in representing the 254. It includes a brief vernacular chant from one of the actors in the video which makes it feel all the more authentic.
Watch her song below and make a point of listening to the album. Kenyan music sure is golden.
