Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama suffered early elimination from the Champions League as Tottenham Hotspur fell to a 2-1 defeat to Monaco on Tuesday.
Hugo Lloris saved a Radamel Falcao penalty but a lackluster display from his side allowed Djibril Sidibe and Thomas Lemar to restore parity whilst Harry Kane scored Spurs’ consolation from a penalty.
This campaign was the 25-year-old’s return to the elite football competition having last featured for former club Celtic, whom he left to join Southampton in July 2013.
In 2013 whilst with Scottish giant Celtic, Wanyama exited the competition in the Last-16 after being outplayed by Juventus but this campaign is definitely one to forget for the Harambe Stars skipper.
Wanyama featured in four of Spur’s five matches so far and he has not managed to score a single goal in the process. Going into the final round of matches, the Mauricio Pochettino coached outfit will look to finish at least third in order to qualify for the Europa League.
