The lovely 5 foot something lady is truly a vision to see. Her long legs and lady like stature is a clear indicator as to why she was the Miss Kenya Finalist 2014. Grace Wanene is vibrant and full of life and eager to let Varcity into her busy life. We sat together and got to learn more about the lass;
How old are you?
I am 22 years old.
Which school are you in and what are you studying?
I am in St. Paul’s University and studying Business Administration and Management.
As our WCW, we need to know, are you in a relationship?
No, I am single.
How did you get into modelling?
Since I was a young girl, I have always been interested in modelling especially pageant modelling. I noticed it gives you the necessary skills to be confident. I then tried my hand at Miss Tourism in 2013 and I won Miss Tourism Laikipia. The next year I ten entered Miss Kenya and I became a finalist.
What did you do with your new found title?
Together with the current Miss Tourism, we have begun the drawing dream foundation where we go to schools, motivate students and hand out books.
How are you able to balance your school life and modelling?
It is all about preference and what is important. For example, when it is time for exams, I take time off to study and go for my exams. I also attend my classes in the day and go for runway shows at night.
What do you plan to do after school?
I have always loved politics so who knows. However, I am interested in helping the youth of Laikipia and continue with mentor-ship programs. I, together with Laikipia county have written a children’s book and I hope to be able to do much more of that in the future.
What advice would you give a youth who would like to get into modelling?
Modelling is all about confidence. So you need to believe in yourself no matter what anybody says. The modelling industry is also filled with a lot of temptation, from alcohol to men, you therefore need to remember to stay focused.
There you have it! Grace Wanene, the beauty queen with brains to boot!
