The Re:tual MajiMaji Rebellion

A story is often told of a Spiritual Leader who gathered the people of his land and told them a compelling story that changed their lives. A story that gave them hope and the courage to fight. To fight for their freedom. ‘What if I told you that I got a portion that would make you indestructible? That you got the power in you to win over these treacherous oppressors. All you need to do is believe.Believe in the water’ It was in the metaphor of the substance that makes the storyline. It’s a call to unite,to become fluid, to be Maji Maji.

The Re:TUAL seeks to retell this story,as we unite, dance, and in one voice, become fluid.

A cultural stance, a folklore, an invitation to dance, to unite, and participate in music that moves, to be part of rhythm.for we all need metaphors. Mystery, awe. In tribute to Kinjeketile Ngwale.
