Tides have changed at Zetech University Football Club (Zetech Titans FC) as the varsity embarks on an intensive recruitment for a coach to fill Sammy Omollo’s shoes, following an amicable parting of ways with the seasoned Kenyan coach
Coach Sammy “Pamzo’ Omollo has officially joined premier league team Posta Rangers, a move that the Zetech Management has amiably accepted, wishing him the best in his endeavours.
Coach Omollo has been instrumental to the vibrant varsity side, having rejoined it after a brief stay in India, strengthening the team in different leagues across the country.
University Executive Director, Communication, Corporate and Student Affairs Moses Maina expressed the institution’s appreciation of the beneficial relationship with the former Tusker FC coach, launching the search for suitable coach to lead the team,
He further disclosed that an intensive recruitment for a coach to fill Omollo’s shoes in ongoing to ensure the team has a strong lead to enable it to achieve its target, “the search is in play as we scout for suitable talent to replace the coach
“The university is glad to have worked with one of the best, in leading the Zetech Titans FC to higher levels. It was a pleasure working with Coach Omollo who easily internalized our vision for the team and effectively helped us in our journey as we strive to join the KPL national league. He remains a respectable and inspirational figure to us.” Moses said, adding, “The intensive recruitment process for his replacement is in play as we scout for suitable talent to take over.”
On his part, Coach Pamzo noted that he has enjoyed working with the Zetech Titans FC and is proud to have been part of milestones such as the move to the division one league and the memorable opportunity to pit the Titans match against the 2016 KPL winner Tusker FC, during the GO TV Round of 16 in August.
He said, “It has been an honour working the Zetech family and I wish to register my gratitude for the opportunity to coach and mentor these young but great footballers; the time has come for my move and I wish Zetech all the best.”
Furthermore, the varsity announced plans to recruit capable players through the varsity’s robust scholarship programme designed to cater to players’ educational needs through the range of courses offered, while they represent the institution in the various tournaments.
“The scholarship initiative cuts across football, basketball, rugby among other sports and co-curricular activities, Zetech has invested in. The aim is to nurture students in academics as well as other areas of their lives so at to leave the institution a holistic individual.” Moses added.
The varsity sports fraternity has registered impressive results in the men and ladies basketball leagues, with the Zetech ladies team sailing to the top of the KBF junior premiership unbeaten and has its sights on joining the national league; meanwhile the Zetech men’s basketball team has also scaled to the top of the KBF Division One leagues, awaiting a playoff match against Kenyatta University, as it aims to join the KBF men’s premier league.
